And the 2012 winners are ...

After another year of extremely high standard of entries, Negociants Australia is pleased to announce the National Winners for the 2012 Working with Wine education programme.

Now in its tenth year, Working with Wine was launched in 1998 as a trade and staff educational programme targeted at wine trade who are interested in furthering their knowledge and passion for wines from around the world.

The two successful Wine Fellowship participants selected from trade and employees win an all-expenses-paid trip to Europe to visit some of the wine world's most celebrated producers, including; Antinori, Domaine Bonneau du Martray, Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Domaine Leflaive, Domaine Dujac, Domaine Faiveley, Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe, Gaja, Guigal, Hugel and Tenuta San Guido.

The 2012 Working with Wine National Winners are:

  • Trade Leanne Altmann (Cutler & Co.)
  • Samuel Smith & Son employee Kirsty McGill (WA)

The final judging took place on Tuesday 20th of November 2012 before a selection panel chaired by James Halliday and including Nick Ryan, Peter Forrestal, Sally Evans, Adam O’Neill and Tim Evans. The winners were announced at the Working with Wine Fellowship Dinner, which took place that evening at Sokyo Restaurant, Sydney.

The Wine Writing Award was won by Frank Hannon-Tan, Amalfi Pizzeria Ristorante, Adelaide. Mr Hannon-Tan receives $1000 worth of books from Ultimo Wine Centre, and will have his article published in the Gourmet Traveller WINE Magazine April/May edition 2013.
